So after calling about 30 hotels/motels in Galveston at 12:30am, there were only vacancies in like 3 of them...who knew Galveston was such a happening place... The cheapest one was like $69/night and I refused to stay there...it was shady and I felt like I would have gotten shot/raped at that motel. Yes I am from SMU. We decided to go to the next cheapest one...boy, was that an exerience! We get there and the girls go in to check it out...they each come out of the office with at least 3 mesquito bites each. They try to haggle with the guy and we ended up saving like $20 and we get the keys and head up to our room...it's actually one of those that you walk in from the outside. We walk in and it was literally 80 degrees and humid. That wasn't the worst part...

There was a stick-on air freshner on the other side of the wall and mesquitos were flying all over the place. We killed 2 of them within the first 10 min and I'm sure there were about 10 more.
I was NOT happy...I'm more high maintenance than I thought.
I convinced the girls that this place wasn't safe and after examining Diana's back full of mesquito bites, they agreed. We left and ended up here even though it cost a lot more...

I was definitely glad to be on land after 12 hours of swaying from side to side, but I had a blast! Great trip, great friends, great memories :) |
